Pokemon Super Contests

The Super Contests are similar to the contests in Ruby and Sapphire with slight differences. For one, you only travel to one building to have access to all of the contests in the entire game. These contests are located in the dome shaped building in the upper part of Hearthome City. Secondly, instead of it being all about the performance of your Pokemon, there are two new categories for the Super Contests in Diamond and Pearl. These two new categories are visual and dance.

The Visual Category

The visual category involves the player dressing up the Pokemon that they are using. This category is based on themes, which is decided at random. Dressing your Pokemon up with items that fall in the theme's description will get you extra points. Poffins also help out in this category, so make sure you feed your PokŽmon some poffins before you sign up for the contest! The Pokemon is dressed up via the touch screen. However, there is a limit on the number of items you may use to dress up your Pokemon, so choose wisely. Once you are done, each PokŽmon is rated with hearts by the audience. Red hearts indicate a higher rating while pink hearts indicate a lower rating.

The Dance Category

The dance category involves dancing, as the name suggests. Your Pokemon will either be the lead dancer or one of the background dancers, depending on the performance in the visual category. The lead dancer is always rotated out with the next Pokemon in line, so there is always a different lead dancer. You will get points based on your rhythm and how quickly you can tap the moves on the touch screen. After this round is completed, you will be told who is currently in first place.

The Performance Category

The performance category hasn't gone through any changes since Ruby and Sapphire. It is the same as in Ruby and Sapphire. You will still recieve points based on the moves you use in the performance. If all five stars above a judge's head are lit up, then you will get bonus points. Whoever has the most points after completing this round would be the winner of this round.

Results

Points from all three categories are added together to get a final score. Whoever has the highest score will be ranked number one and declared the winner. Players are ranked in order of score between one and four with four being the lowest and one being the highest. If you are the winner, then you will recieve a prize based on the rank of the contest and the type of contest you chose. Good luck and have fun!
